Revival earned its name honestly. GlenDronach pulled the 15 Year Old from shelves when stocks ran short, then brought it back once the sherry casks laid down in the Highlands had caught up, and it returned as the bottling many drinkers consider the distillery at its peak.
Fifteen years entirely in Pedro Ximenez and Oloroso casks produces something dense and mahogany-dark: black cherry, treacle, espresso, walnut and dried fig, with a spiced, long finish that holds its sweetness in balance. Bottled at forty-six percent, it takes a drop of water well. Drink it neat in the evening, and give it a proper glass; this one repays attention.
