Product Description
The Solera Vat at Glenfiddich is a large Oregon pine tun that has never been allowed to empty since 1998. Whisky aged fifteen years in sherry, bourbon and virgin oak casks is married inside it and drawn off only halfway, so every bottling carries something of every bottling before it.
The effect is a rounder, sweeter Speyside malt than the 12: honey, marzipan, dried fruit and warm baking spice, with a silky texture and a finish that stays soft rather than sharp. Bottled at forty percent. Pour it neat at room temperature and let it open for a few minutes; ice mutes exactly the qualities the solera process exists to create.
