Product Description
Dufftown, in Speyside, has been Glenfiddich's home since 1887, and this is one of the distillery's most quietly radical bottlings. Twenty-one years of Scottish maturation, then a finishing period in casks that previously held Caribbean rum, a move that was unusual when it began and is now widely copied. The rum wood does not overwhelm the malt; it warms it, adding a tropical sweetness on top of two decades of restraint.
Banana, toffee, baked fig and cinnamon arrive first, then oak spice, dark sugar and a long, faintly smoky finish. Drink it neat in a tulip glass with a drop of water, slowly. A milestone bottle, and a persuasive gift for a scotch drinker who thinks they have tried everything.
