Product Description
Gonzalez Byass has been shipping sherry out of Jerez since 1835, and the Solera 1847 takes its name from the year its blending system was laid down. Cream sherry is oloroso that has been sweetened, which gives it the nutty depth of an oxidatively aged wine with a dessert wine's generosity. The half bottle is the right size, because a little goes a long way.
Raisin, fig, toasted walnut and caramel, richly sweet but held in check by a dry, nutty finish. Serve it lightly chilled in a small glass. Excellent with blue cheese, almonds, dark chocolate or a simple tart, and unexpectedly good poured over vanilla ice cream.
