Product Description
Dry oloroso may be the least understood great wine in the world. Aged for years in cask with air rather than under a protective veil of yeast, it emerges dark, nutty and completely dry, which confuses anyone who expects sherry to be sweet. Alfonso is a classic Jerez example and a very good place to meet the style.
Walnut, dried orange peel, leather and toasted bread, full-flavored but bone dry, with a long savory finish. Serve it cool rather than cold, in a white wine glass. It is superb with cured ham, olives, aged cheese, almonds, or a bowl of consomme. For drinkers who want something genuinely different at the table.
