Kevin Hart went into business with the Beckmann family, whose tequila lineage in Jalisco runs back generations, and Gran Coramino is the result. The anejo is the most patient bottle in the range, given at least a year in oak so the sweetness of the agave has time to knit with the wood. It is a celebrity-backed brand with a serious distilling pedigree behind it, which is rarer than the shelf suggests.
Round and generous: caramel, roasted agave, vanilla and baked apple with a light peppery lift on a soft finish. Neat or over one large cube suits it best, and it makes an unusually good agave old fashioned. A crowd-pleaser for the group that cannot agree on a bottle.
