Time in oak is the expensive part of making tequila, which is why a well-priced añejo is worth noticing. Hacienda Vieja gives this one no less than a year in barrel, and the result carries more weight than its place on the shelf would suggest.
Amber and soft, with caramel, dried fruit, toasted oak and a baked-agave sweetness that holds all the way through a long finish. Drink it neat and unhurried, in a glass with room to open up. A sensible introduction to aged tequila for the curious but not yet committed.
