Product Description
A decade on from the vintage, the 2016 On the Road has crossed from powerhouse into something more interesting. Herman Story makes Central Coast reds in the Rhone tradition and at unapologetic scale, and the bottles that survive ten years repay the wait: the oak recedes, the fruit turns from primary to dried, and a savoury layer emerges that simply was not there on release.
Look for dried cherry and macerated plum, leather, dried herbs, sweet spice and tannin that has fully resolved. Drink it now rather than cellaring further. Roast lamb, braised short ribs or a board of aged cheeses all suit it.
