Piesporter Michelsberg is the broader Mosel designation that made German Riesling a household name across the English-speaking world, and Hirschbach and Sohne works squarely in that friendly tradition. Picked as a Spatlese — a late harvest — it leans gently sweet, which is exactly what the style is meant to do. Unfashionable for a while; increasingly sought out again.
Soft and aromatic: ripe peach, green apple, honey and a floral top note, lifted by the crisp acidity the Mosel supplies for free. Serve it thoroughly chilled. Excellent with spicy food, cured ham and melon, or simply as an easy afternoon pour on a warm day.
