The workhorse blanco of a great many Chicago bar wells, here in a half-bottle format. Hornitos Plata is made from 100 percent blue agave and bottled unaged, so what reaches the glass is the agave itself — clean, peppery and direct. The 375ml suits the household that makes margaritas occasionally rather than constantly.
Crisp and dry: cooked agave, white pepper, citrus peel and a brisk finish with no lingering sweetness. This is a mixing tequila and a good one. Build a margarita, a paloma or a ranch water on it and it will hold up its end. Keep it in the freezer door.
