Product Description
The stag on the label refers to the legend of Saint Hubertus, patron saint of hunters, which is a suitably serious origin story for a liqueur most people first meet at a bar around midnight. What is inside deserves the seriousness: 56 botanicals macerated, blended and matured in oak casks for a year in Wolfenbuttel, to a recipe unchanged since 1935.
Bitter orange, licorice, anise, clove and a dense herbal sweetness, closing long and pleasantly bitter. Keep the bottle in the freezer and pour it in small, very cold measures. Beyond the shot glass it does excellent work in a highball with ginger beer, or stirred with cold coffee.
