Bottled at 40 percent, it stays true to the house's smooth style while carrying the weight of eighteen years of maturation.
The palate is creamy and layered: butterscotch, raisin, almond, a little dark chocolate, and a long finish with faint oak smoke. Serve it neat, at room temperature, in a glass that narrows at the rim; water in tiny amounts, ice never. A considered gift for an Irish whiskey drinker who already owns the basics.
