Where Black Label aims for equilibrium, Double Black aims for intensity. The blenders reach for more whisky from the smoky west coast and the islands, and they lean on casks with a deeper char, so the same recognisable framework arrives with the volume turned up. There is no age statement, and none is needed to understand what this bottle is for.
Smoke and brine lead, with charred oak, dried fruit, vanilla and a warm peppery heat that holds through the finish. Pour it neat with a drop of water, or over one large clear cube. Pick it up if you love Black Label but keep wishing it were smokier.
