An aged tequila in a half bottle is a useful thing to own. You get the barrel character without committing to a full 750, which makes this an easy introduction to the anejo category or a neat gift for someone who already drinks it. A year in oak is the legal minimum for the designation, and it is enough time to change the spirit substantially.
Warm and mellow, with caramel, vanilla, toasted oak and cooked agave holding the line underneath. There is a dried fruit note through the finish and very little of the raw pepper a blanco carries. Pour it neat and unchilled in a small glass; this is an after-dinner spirit rather than a cocktail base.
