Product Description
Portugal has been fermenting wine in clay for two thousand years, and Jose de Sousa is one of the few estates that never really stopped. In the Alentejo, this red is still made in part in tall earthenware vessels, a method that gives the wine a texture you will not find in steel or oak alone. It remains one of the country's more quietly remarkable values.
The result is dark-fruited and savory: black plum, dried herb, a dusty spine of tannin, a whisper of smoke. Pour it alongside lamb, grilled sausage, or anything that has met charcoal. Give it twenty minutes open and it unfolds noticeably.
