Joseph Carr worked as a sommelier and wine executive for years before putting his father's nickname on a label, and the Chardonnay reflects that background - a commercially minded wine made with more care than the shelf price suggests. California fruit, a portion of barrel aging, nothing overwrought.
The palate is soft and generous: yellow apple, pear, a light dusting of toasted oak, and a creamy mid-weight texture that finishes clean. Pour it cold with roast poultry, buttery pasta, shellfish or a mild cheese. A reliable house white, and the sort of bottle worth keeping two of in the fridge door.
