Josh Cellars named this one Legacy, a nod to the family story behind the winery. Joseph Carr built the brand in honor of his father, a farmer and veteran everyone called Josh, and Legacy is the red blend in the range: assembled from California fruit to be generous and immediately likeable rather than demanding.
Ripe black cherry and plum lead, wrapped in vanilla and mocha from oak, with soft tannins and a rounded, gently sweet finish. It makes an easy midweek red and a safe bet for a table with mixed tastes. Burgers, short ribs, pizza, a cheese board - it asks very little of the food beside it.
