Product Description
Monastrell goes by Mourvedre in France, where it mostly plays a supporting role in blends. In Jumilla it takes the lead and carries it convincingly. The Juan Gil family has been working these vines for generations, and the straight Monastrell is the clearest look at what their corner of southeastern Spain actually produces.
The palate is warm and generous: ripe blackberry, plum, a savory herbal note and gentle oak spice, with tannins approachable from the first pour. No decanting needed. Serve it with grilled sausage, lamb chops, tomato-heavy pasta or a board of cured meats. Remarkable value for the weight it delivers.
