Juggernaut is the second kind - a California Cabernet made by the Rutherford Wine Company to be unapologetically dark and full, aimed at drinkers who want a big red without spending Napa money to get there. The heavy bottle is not an accident.
Blackberry, cassis and dark chocolate sit over toasted oak, with mocha and a crack of black pepper on a long, dense finish. The tannins are firm but ripe. Serve it with a ribeye, braised short ribs or anything charred, and give it twenty minutes of air before the first real pour.
