Ketel One Botanical is made by infusing wheat vodka with real botanicals and redistilling it, a method that carries aroma across without carrying sugar. Cucumber and mint is the most useful of the three expressions: fresh, dry and green, and lighter in proof than a standard vodka, which suits a tall drink built on soda.
The aroma is unmistakably cucumber, with mint arriving cool on the palate and a dry, clean finish. It needs almost nothing done to it. Top it with soda and ice, add a cucumber slice, and you have a two-ingredient cocktail. It also works beautifully in a gimlet variation with fresh lime.
