Product Description
Kistler has spent decades making Chardonnay the way Burgundy taught the world to make it: single sites, long time on the lees, and very little fuss in between. The Sonoma Mountain bottling draws on hillside fruit, and 2011 was a cool, unhurried California growing season that favored tension over ripeness.
This is a wine of restraint rather than opulence, with lemon curd, white peach, hazelnut and a chalky mineral finish. Now well into its second decade, it is best decanted briefly and served cool but not cold. Pair with roast poultry, lobster or an aged hard cheese, and pour it for people who care about provenance.
