Kumusha is the project of Tinashe Nyamudoka, a sommelier who built a wine label around a Shona word meaning home. The wines are made in South Africa and carry a clear point of view: honest varietal character, no unnecessary weight, and a story worth knowing before you pour. The Cabernet is the sturdiest bottle in the range.
Expect blackcurrant and plum with a savory, faintly herbal edge and tannins that are firm but polished. Give it half an hour open, then serve at cool room temperature with grilled lamb, braised short ribs, or anything that came off a charcoal fire. A red for people who read the back label.
