Product Description
La Crema treats Chardonnay as a coastal California specialty, and the 2020 shows the house approach plainly: barrel fermentation for texture, but not so much oak that the fruit disappears. It lands in the useful middle of the category, richer than a Chablis and leaner than the big buttery bottlings of the 1990s.
Look for green apple, lemon curd and pear with a creamy mid-palate and a hint of toasted hazelnut on the close. Serve cool rather than ice cold so the texture has a chance to show. Excellent with crab, halibut, chicken in cream sauce, or a wedge of soft cheese at the end of a meal.
