Product Description
Amarone is made by a method that sounds implausible until you taste it: grapes are dried on racks for months before pressing, concentrating everything before fermentation even begins. La Giuva farms in the hills of the Veneto and makes its Amarone the traditional way, which is to say slowly and at considerable cost.
The result is enormous but not clumsy. Dried cherry, fig, bitter chocolate and balsamic notes sit on a full, warm frame with a finish that goes on and on. Serve in a large glass at cool room temperature after decanting. Best with braised beef, aged Parmigiano, or nothing at all but a quiet hour after dinner.
