The Perrin family has farmed in the southern Rhone for five generations, and La Vieille Ferme is their gift to the everyday drinker: serious winemaking pedigree at a supermarket price. The magnum makes it more useful still, holding enough white for a full table without opening a second bottle.
The blend is unoaked and crisply dry, with white flowers, citrus, green apple and a faint mineral snap. Serve it well chilled. It handles shellfish, roast chicken, cheese boards and picnic food with equal ease, and it is one of the few bottles you can hand to almost anyone with confidence.
