Product Description
Stephan Asseo left Bordeaux for Paso Robles in the late 1990s because California let him blend without a rulebook. L'Aventure became one of the estates that proved his point, and Cote a Cote is its Rhone-leaning cuvee, grown on limestone hillsides and built for depth. The 2011 has had well over a decade to settle into itself.
Expect a dense, sun-warmed wine: black raspberry, wild herb, crushed pepper and dark chocolate, with tannins now soft and the whole thing knit together. Decant an hour before dinner and serve in large bowls with lamb, venison or a dry-aged steak. A bottle for a table that intends to sit and talk.
