Product Description
Ripasso is a Veneto technique with a long pedigree: finished Valpolicella is re-passed over the spent skins of Amarone, picking up extra color, weight and a whisper of dried fruit. Le Clivie uses it to build a red that drinks bigger than its shelf price suggests. Call it the baby Amarone if you like, but it stands up perfectly well on its own terms.
Black cherry and plum arrive first, followed by cocoa, dried fig and a faint bitter-almond lift on the close. Medium-full, smooth, short on hard edges. Pour it with lasagna, sausage ragu, hard cheeses or a Tuesday pizza.
