White Zinfandel began as a California accident, the result of pulling juice off red Zinfandel skins early and ending up with something pale, pink and lightly sweet. Decades later it still outsells plenty of more fashionable wines, for the simple reason that it is genuinely easy to drink. Liberty Creek keeps the tradition going without attempting any reinvention.
Strawberry and melon over a soft, faintly sweet finish, with just enough acidity to keep things lively. Serve it very cold. It works with grilled chicken, barbecue, spicy noodles, salty snacks and hot weather, and it is reliably the bottle that gets finished first.
