Before American wineries settled on grape names, they borrowed European place names, and California Burgundy came to mean nothing more specific than a dry, medium-bodied red blend. Livingston still makes one, and the three-liter format is the old-fashioned house-wine solution: four standard bottles under a single cap, ready whenever the table fills up.
