Añejo is where tequila starts behaving like whiskey. A year or more in oak turns the agave darker and rounder, and the vegetal edge of a blanco gives way to caramel and spice. Locuaz keeps its version approachable, which makes it a sensible first aged tequila rather than a collector purchase.
Amber in the glass, with vanilla, toasted oak, cooked agave and dried fruit across a soft, warming finish. Sip it neat or over one large cube in place of a nightcap. If you mix it, keep the drink simple: an old fashioned with agave syrup and orange.
