Pinot Noir built its reputation on being difficult to grow, which is precisely why an approachable everyday version is worth keeping around. Loop keeps this one light on its feet: a red with genuine perfume and very little weight, the kind that works when a Cabernet would simply be too much. Red cherry, cranberry and a faint earthy note sit over silky tannin and bright acidity. Serve lightly chilled. Pinot is the most food-friendly red there is, and this proves it with salmon, mushrooms, roast pork or soft cheese.
