Rather than defend a single varietal, it assembles a glass that is generous, dark-fruited and immediately drinkable. Blackberry, ripe plum and vanilla come wrapped in soft tannin and a faintly sweet, warming finish. Serve it lightly cool. It handles boldly seasoned food without complaint, from barbecue ribs and chili to pizza, sausage and sharp cheddar.
