One grain, nothing else. Lot No. 40 is distilled entirely from rye in a single copper pot still, which is the opposite of how most Canadian whisky is made and the reason this bottle became a critical favorite well beyond its home market. Pot distillation keeps more of the grain's oil and texture in the spirit, so the rye arrives loud and unmistakable rather than blended into the background.

Bold and spicy: cracked pepper, clove, rye bread and eucalyptus over vanilla and dark fruit, with a long, dry, peppery finish. Neat is the purist's route, but its real gift is cocktails, where it cuts through vermouth and bitters in a Manhattan or a sazerac. For the drinker who wants rye to taste like rye.
