Non-alcoholic cocktails have improved enormously in the last decade, and Lyre's is a large part of the reason. The Australian brand reverse-engineers classic spirits from botanical extracts and essences, then builds ready-to-drink cocktails from them, so the person not drinking gets a real glass instead of a soda and a shrug.

Expect the architecture of a proper cocktail — bitterness, citrus lift, aromatic depth — with nothing behind it. Serve the cans cold over fresh ice with whatever garnish the style suggests: a citrus twist, a lime wedge, a sprig of something green. A four-pack is useful for hosts, designated drivers and dry months.
