This is the top of the Dobel range. An extra anejo — a minimum of three years in oak under Mexican law — blended and then filtered clear in the cristalino manner, and presented in heavy decanter-style glass. Extra anejo accounts for a small fraction of all tequila made, and those additional years announce themselves.
Rich and dessert-leaning: butterscotch, roasted agave, vanilla bean, dried fruit and a whisper of oak smoke, carried on a long and silky finish. Drink it neat at room temperature in a copita and leave the mixers in the cabinet. A serious gift, and a fitting end to a long dinner.
