Product Description
Maker's Mark solved a puzzle by adding wood rather than time. The Wood Finishing Series works by hanging custom-seasoned oak staves inside fully matured barrels for a final period in the limestone cellar, tuning the flavor without simply aging the whiskey longer. This 2022 release paired two expressions, BRT-01 and BRT-02, designed as a set so the two stave recipes could be tasted against one another.
Both lean into the brand's soft wheated core, one pushing toward dark caramel, baked fruit and oak tannin, the other toward vanilla, brown sugar and a spicier finish. Pour small measures side by side, neat, and add a drop of water to each. A rewarding evening for a bourbon drinker who likes a comparison.
