Bartenders were the ones asking for this. Standard coconut rum is gentle by design, and in a shaken drink the coconut tends to disappear behind the juice. Malibu Black answers with a higher-strength version that holds its ground in the glass instead of being swallowed by it.
Bolder and less sugary than the original, with toasted coconut, brown sugar and a clear rum backbone carrying a longer finish. Build a pina colada that actually tastes of rum, a coconut old fashioned, or a straight pour over ice with pineapple and lime. It also works where dark rum usually goes.
