Elderberry has a long history in country winemaking across Europe and North America, valued for its dark color and its distinctive, faintly floral character. It is the most unusual member of this range and worth trying if the Concord bottling is already familiar territory. Kosher certified, sweet by design, and priced so that curiosity costs very little.
Inky dark in the glass, with elderberry, black cherry and a gentle herbal lift under the sweetness, closing soft and smooth. Serve it chilled in a modest pour. Good with rich roast meats, honeyed desserts or a plate of dried fruit and nuts.
