Blue Swift is what happens when one of the oldest houses in Cognac borrows an idea from Kentucky. French eaux-de-vie of VSOP quality are blended in the usual way, then finished in ex-bourbon barrels, a step that sits outside Cognac regulations and gives the spirit its own category. Traditionalists raised eyebrows. Bartenders and bourbon drinkers did not.
The bourbon influence shows as vanilla, toasted coconut and a warm caramel sweetness layered over Martell orchard fruit and candied citrus. Smooth enough to sip neat over ice, it is genuinely excellent in an Old Fashioned or a Sazerac where a Cognac base adds roundness.
