Product Description
Matua planted the first commercial Sauvignon Blanc vines in New Zealand in 1969, which makes the winery a reasonable claimant to having started the style the whole country is now known for. The Reserve bottling comes from Marlborough, the region that turned that early experiment into a global category, and it dials up concentration without losing the variety nerve.
Passionfruit, grapefruit and fresh-cut herbs arrive with real intensity, followed by a zesty, dry finish that keeps calling you back. Serve it thoroughly chilled with oysters, goat cheese, asparagus, green salads or ceviche. It is also excellent on its own before dinner on a warm evening.
