Aged mezcal asks for a different kind of attention than its clear counterpart. Scorpion rests its Oaxacan espadin spirit in oak, trading some of the raw smoke for weight, sweetness and a longer finish. For anyone whose taste already runs to aged rum or sipping tequila, this is the mezcal most likely to land.
The aroma opens on roasted agave and gentle smoke, then vanilla, toffee and dried fig follow from the wood. The texture is soft and the finish warm and lingering. Pour it neat into a wide glass and give it a few minutes before the first sip. An after-dinner spirit above all.
