Product Description
Merlot from northern Italy is a different proposition than the plush New World version. Grown in the cool valleys of Trentino, it keeps its acidity and leans savory, producing a medium-bodied red that belongs next to dinner rather than in front of the television. For anyone who wrote Merlot off years ago, this is the style worth revisiting.
Plum and red cherry lead, with dried herb, a touch of tobacco leaf and smooth, unobtrusive tannins. There is very little oak in the way. Serve it slightly cool with roast pork, meatballs, mushroom pasta, grilled vegetables or a plate of cured meat and bread.
