Product Description
Extra añejo is the newest and smallest tier in tequila, only formally recognized in 2006, and it requires at least three years in oak. Very little tequila is held that long, because the agave has to be worth the wait and the producer has to be willing to leave money in a warehouse. Bottles in this category are rare on any shelf.
Three years of wood gives a deep amber spirit with dried fig, dark caramel, toasted nut and cocoa, with the agave surviving underneath as a savory thread. Drink it as you would an aged rum or a fine brandy, neat and unhurried, in small pours after dinner.
