Michter's fills used cooperage on purpose, because the wood has given up its sharpest tannins and what comes back is softer, sweeter and more about the spirit than the stave. Bottled at 83.4 proof, it is the most approachable entry in the US*1 range.
Vanilla and butterscotch lead, then stone fruit, a little toasted nut, and a clean finish that does not overstay. It mixes beautifully in Whiskey Sours and Highballs, anywhere you want whiskey character without weight, and it holds its own neat on a warm evening.
