Red grape is the flavor closest to what most people picture when they think of sweet American wine, and in this fortified format it arrives bolder and sweeter than a standard table bottling. The nose is grape candy, the palate thick and sugary with a warm finish and no astringency at all. It wants to be very cold. Over ice it opens up and reads far less syrupy, and a splash of lemon lime soda turns it into a passable spritz for a casual get together.
