Pinot Noir at an approachable price is a genuinely difficult thing to pull off, because the grape is thin skinned, fussy and expensive to farm. This bottling takes the sensible route: clean fruit, light oak, and enough restraint to let the variety show its natural charm. A useful house red for anyone who finds Cabernet too heavy.
Pale ruby in the glass, with red cherry, cranberry and a touch of forest floor, light tannins and fresh acidity throughout. Serve it lightly chilled, around fifty five degrees. Salmon, roast chicken, mushroom dishes and a plate of charcuterie are all natural partners.
