Product Description
Black Barrel earns its name in the second cask. The rum is first matured in American whiskey barrels, then finished in heavily charred oak, which is where the smoke, spice and depth come from. Mount Gay has been distilling in Barbados since the 1700s, and this is the expression the distillery aims squarely at whiskey drinkers.
Toasted oak and black pepper sit over vanilla, ripe banana and brown sugar, with a dry, warming finish. It holds up neat or over one large cube, and it builds an exceptional old fashioned where a lighter rum would simply disappear.
