Product Description
Nero d'Avola is Sicily's signature red grape, and pairing it with Merlot is a classic island move: the native variety brings dark fruit and a savory edge, the Merlot smooths the tannin and fills out the middle. The result is a food wine first and a sipping wine second.
Expect black cherry and plum with a faint note of dried herb and Mediterranean scrub, medium body, moderate tannin and a dry finish. Serve it at cool room temperature with tomato-based pasta, eggplant, grilled sausage, lamb or a hard sheep's cheese. Strong value for a weeknight table.
