Pabst won its blue ribbon at the 1893 World's Columbian Exposition here in Chicago, tied ribbons to the bottles, and never stopped mentioning it. More than a century later it remains one of the most recognizable cans in America, kept alive by a low price, a fixed recipe and an unlikely second life as a cultural artifact.
It pours pale gold with a soft corn-and-grain sweetness, a faint hop bitterness and a light, quick finish. Serve it very cold, from the can, with pizza, a grill, or a folding chair.
