Extra añejo is the most patient thing a tequila house can attempt, and Patrón keeps its version at a restrained 80 proof so the barrel character reads clearly instead of hot. Years in oak, no shortcuts, bottled at a strength you can sip without water. Closer in spirit to brandy than to anything a margarita would recognize.
Dark amber, with toffee, dried fruit, cocoa and cinnamon over slow-roasted agave, finishing long and gently sweet. Neat in a snifter is the way, at room temperature, after a meal. For the drinker who wants an aged spirit and does not want it to be whiskey.
